Tarzan
After having not watched Tarzan in many years with childhood innocence, watching it now i’m older has changed my perspective. This movie isn’t simply about an ape man in a loincloth, it’s about grief, acceptance, scholarship and love. Phil Collins’ soundtrack is different to most 90s Disney films but as is Tarzan and i’m perhaps not the only one glad the characters weren’t musical. The animation is visually beautiful with amazingly done texture and depth. The cinematography of the animation possesses a depth which isn’t this refined in potentially any other Disney film of the era. The lingering darkness throughout is what I personally find lacking in today’s Disney films; this could be one the most recent Disney films to meet the era’s standard (which speaks volumes now the film is 25 years old).
