Full Metal Jacket
There's abject coercion in the first half and, a far more insidious, ideology masked coercion present in the second half.
Systematic grooming and control is never actually about making someone feel like a maggot or making their decisions for them; it's allowing them the space to feel as though they already make decisions for themselves in an arena they truthfully have no control at all.
The name "Joker" is initially a dehumanising military tactic, used to punish disobedience, but inevitably becomes something reclaimed. There's then further reclamation of self as soldiers are allowed to grow their hair out, have sex with prostitutes, and point out contradictions within the western man.
None of this, however, rids the soldier of their full metal jacket. Grandiose ideology may impose upon each individual the feeling of being a green giant; however at any moment, this fantasy can be shattered by an opposition's own full metal jacket. The very same thing providing comfort, belonging, and peace, will also kill you.
The towering being that wills the existence of the full metal jacket isn't a soldier's drill sargent, he's as mortal as anyone, it's an ineffable entity looming over every waking moment of life; a tune non-diegetically imposed over every scene until the last, where the soldiers finally worship its presence and sing his song: the western God of Mickey Mouse.
