Brooklyn
I've been meaning to watch this just based on the title alone; I had no idea what this was going to be about but I'm not disappointed in the slightest. I love this so much. Everything about this was beautiful and familiar and of course the great acting and score helped it be. I grew up in Brooklyn for most of my life, at a different time period obviously, but it was great to see it and how much of it remains the same. This is also a great movie dealing with homesickness/knowing where you have to be in order to fulfill your dreams.
"Brooklyn" is a wonderful story about the growth of Eilis and the many rapid changes in her life. So much can be learned from this film, especially for viewers searching for their "Brooklyn". Eilis, despite her conflicts, never looses full sight of what's important in her life. The more risks she takes the more mature and on the right path she becomes. She matures quickly and at the end of the film it especially shows. She passes advice onto the girl next to her in the boat; this shows wisdom gained from experience and the words of others.
Brooklyn was a new beginning for not only Eilis, but many other real people back then and now. This movie perfectly captures the spirit of literal Brooklyn and a symbolic Brooklyn of those taking risks for a better future. I feel so warm and weirdly inspired after seeing this film.
