ahoooooj *(star guide below) * ½* *i hated this. *⭐️ *not for me ⭐½ meh *⭐️⭐️ *didn't really care for it ⭐️⭐½ had some good parts *⭐️⭐️⭐️ *i had fun ⭐️⭐️⭐½ good movie *⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ *really good movie * *⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐½ amazing movie *⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ *either a perfect movie, or a personal favorite. (not ranked by quality, but rather my personal enjoyment!)

*"Whole world at your fingertips, the ocean at your door."* 4th viewing: so i decided to watch it again. maybe to confirm it's still as good as i remember, maybe to cry myself to sleep, maybe just to sing along. all three happened. i am content. it's hard for me to write anything more about it. that doesn't happen a lot.

*"When all this is over, we'll be a proper family."* the later Potter films are strange. they don't work as political thrillers, because they still operate on fairytale logic. they don't work as character dramas, because the characters just aren't all that well-developed. and they don't work as action movies, because the magic system is... well. that's not to say i don't like the Order of the Phoenix - in fact it is probably my 3rd favorite. but still, it feels held back by its source so heavily. Rowling is simply not a good author. i am not sorry. 3/5 stars (= i had fun) (+1/2 star for Fireworks, aka my favorite Potter song ever.)

feature-length movie, two comic books and multiple plushies on my desk, right now. here's my entire wallet

it's kinda funny how i disagree with this movie's politics on literally every stance. 1) a small group of men deciding what's best 2) illegal international specops operations 3) violence enacted by a self-appointed vigilante as the only way to fight crime 4) the portrayal of anarchy as random chaos and cruelty 5) the uncritiqued usage of mass surveilance and torture ... i could go on and on, but... this is also the best superhero movie ever. it's perfect in every conceivable way. it probably got me into movies in the first place and i can't help but love it for that easy 5/5
