***“We make an idol of our fear and that idol is god.”*** Exceptional and defiantly a hard one to get into or to grasp, but I loved Its intricate screenplay with very surrealistic and dark themes mixed with playful humour. Such intelligent religious commentary and metaphors here with constant questions of the meaning of life, the battles of faith and ones own morality. Ingmar Bergman is truly a one of a kind director, creating a film filled with philosophical, theological and existential questions and deals with all of this in only 90 minutes! It’s very fascinating especially because he is considered a Protestant atheist. Ultimately The Seventh Seal presents us with death and reminds us that we are all going to die and what are we going to do about it.
