Platoon
If there's two things America will forever hold as its legacy, it's blood and hypocrisy. The blood of innocents shed for the hypocrisy of men who will never have to face consequences for the people, the real human beings, sent into the meat grinder to be dehumanized at "best" and mutilated and murdered most likely. All for the hope of the American dream and "freedom from those evil influences of Communism". A whole generation of men who survived hell and for what? Oliver Stone, a Vietnam veteran himself, poses this question over and over again throughout the film. Fitting, that while the film promises a tomorrow for Chris Taylor, we never see him outside of Vietnam, because we know, the best parts of him were bled out there.
