Angel's Egg
It’s always very interesting to find a film that is so artistically and philosophically different than most other films out there. By the time the credits for this movie came on the screen, I was definitely left with more questions than when I began the film. The most boiled down, to the point plot of this movie is about a young girl who carries an egg around with her. She meets a man who joins her on her journey, and that’s pretty much as simple of a plot outline I can give you. This movie is drenched with religious iconology, and it takes some research after the films credits roll. The movie begins to make a lot more sense when you look at it with all of its religious elements and knowing that the director was having a crisis of faith while making this film. It explores the idea of blind faith and what happens when you give up that faith. It’s definitely not a movie for everyone and is definitely a difficult watch. However if you love beautiful, hand drawn animation, and love religious symbolism, please do what you can to watch this movie.
