A Summer's Tale
Absolutely life changing—pass me the controller.
I'm not quite sure what to say, but this was perfect. An odd but amazing story about love, and above all, friendship.
I've been meaning to watch A Summer's Tale for the better part of a few months now, and with the amount of press around director Éric Rohmer's birthday, I decided now was the perfect time.
I was a little unsure about how much I was going to enjoy this one, but still, it exceeded my highest expectations by miles. Serene and effortlessly beautiful, A Summer's Tale displays an unconventional summer love story.
Surrounding a tourist and the three girls he is torn between, A Summer's Tale simultaneously highlights the problems behind infidelity and unkept promises, whilst still highlighting the beauty of summer.
Every stylistic aspect of the film, from the glances, awkward but meaningful interactions, and otherworldly cinematography, was peak on my soul. I need to add this to the list of films I need to wire into my brain, even if it hasn't done so already.
Also, what an ending! I was so upset, but it was more than the right way to complete this masterpiece.
"Friendship's serious. Maybe more than love."
