Dunkirk
The Miracle of Dunkirk is one of if not the greatest human feat of all time, and Dunkirk captures that perfectly.
Nolan skillfully strips the event of Dunkirk down to something so raw and real encapsulating feelings of, time, fear, survival... allowing the viewer to live through the prospective of a soldier stranded and cornered from both sides.
The Cinematography, on par with some of my favorites of all time, is hollow, but at the same time effortlessly beautiful; its serenity is harrowing. The empty villages and vast, beaches emphasize the soldiers’ self isolation and venerability. Mirroring the physiological impact that war has on soldiers. Those last few scenes tied the film together so well, Jesus I am never going to be the same.
Even though I have seen this before, something like 5 years ago, I was skeptical on the cast; I am a known Barry Keoghan and Harry Styles hater but everything was flawless anyway! I am appalled that Fionn Whitehead is not casted in more films.
Absolutely crushing, even better on a rewatch.
