Great Expectations
Ms. Dinsmoor walked so Aunt Gladys could run.
Wow, what a mess. I knew it would be trash, but I thought it would be my kind of trash—if that makes any sense. The plot makes no sense, and Finn's art, which plays a humongous role in the film, fucking sucks to say the least. Half the budget, which should've gone towards finding a half-decent artist, probably went towards Robert De Niro.
Nothing that happened related to eachother and it made zero sense. Bancroft's character allegedly plays a huge part in the film, but she doesn't like do anything to impact the plot other than tweak the whole time.
Alfonso Cuaron is one of my favorite directors of all time; Gravity, Y Tu Mama Tambien, and Children of Men are all masterpieces. However, Great Expectations feels like a Disney-porno rather than being impactful in any way.
Although I did enjoy the ending, I guess. Some of the shots were executed quite well, and Hawke's acting wasn't overly horrendous.
