The Social Network
Jesus that was so unbelievably enjoyable! Ambitious, greedy, risky, and somehow sad at times—The Social Network is the perfect example of the modern pursuit of wealth in the United States.
Social media is almost essential to our daily lives now, I mean the President of the United States posts on Twitter. Hence why it was rather interesting to see the birth of one of the most notorious apps displayed on the big screen.
Adding on to the extremely interesting plot, The Social Network had such a satisfying sequence of events, I knew some of the facts behind the lawsuits that took place in the early stages of Facebook, but I thought Fincher still created a masterclass with this film. Thus, after watching The Social Network and Gone Girl, I can fully say that the later half of Fincher's career meaning, the 2000s-2010s are 100% my shit.
Every role in this is pretty much the cherry on top to an already sublime film but this was, without a doubt an Andrew Garfield masterclass. The "Prada's at the cleaners' scene" has quite literally defined cinema for going on 16 years now. I thought how the friendship Eduardo and Mark had was destroyed over pure greed was devastating. Shocking that it was a real event whilst simultaneously being very fitting to society today! How did this not win best picture?
The ending contrasted between the beginning was elite, imagine your girl breaks up with you so you create one of the most successful platforms the world will ever see.
I am on fire with these recent watches, give me more peak!
