this is, and will most likely forever be, my favorite sudio ghibli film. the score is amazing, most of the dialogue is perfect and Ashitaka is my favorite protagonist/main character of all time. perfect movie
such a fuckin banger. gorgeous colors, amazing characters and just a blast of a time. people truly do sleep on this one and it’s a damn shame. porco is the hardest anime character ever. it really doesn’t get any cooler than this movie.

you can’t not love spirited away. I feel like it’s grown off of me slightly over the years but it’s still just a spectacle. great story and “out of this world” world-building. just misses on a deeper level for me and isn’t as fun to watch as my top 2. no face is a homie though

so fucking good. sophie post haircut is 🥺🥹😍🥰😋 and the dub is amazing. billy crystal and christian bale 😮💨😮💨 awesome visuals and a great story that keeps you engaged

I still find this to be the saddest film I’ve ever seen. it is also Studio Ghibli’s most grounded which I love. story is so devastating and emotional. a hard watch but a must-see in my book.

also find it crazy that the most kidish ghibli (totoro) and the most heartbreaking one came out in the same year

COUNTRY ROAD TAKE ME HOME

my favorite first-time watch so far in my little Ghibli marathon. such a beautifully relatable coming of age film. didn’t expect too many new ones to break my top 10 but I’m pleasantly surprised with this one

beautiful score, amazing story and an extremely lovable protagonist. what more could you want? also Miyazaki’s first and pre-Studio Ghibli. I really want to read the manga

so damn heartwarming. I used to write this one off as one of my least favorites but I feel as though I never gave it an honest shot. always thought of this one and Ponyo as the kidish ones (which they are) but the story is great and somewhat emotional, lovable characters and a damn cat bus

Ponyo’s transformation scene is truly one of the most beautifully animated 5 minutes ever. solid cute movie(: Sosuke and Ponyo have some fine ass moms 🥺

gorgeous film with a cute protagonist couple. iron giant mixed with atlantis. starts to drag slightly towards the end
a real good feel-good movie that I relate too a lot. losing your passion in something that you once truly loved and finding a new spark within the typical routine. gigi is also a g
really happy with this one(: definitely a bit slower than most ghibli films but the story is solid and heartbreaking with some really amazing visuals and dream sequences
Wow this one was super cute and had a really great twist I didn’t see coming. gorgeous as always
big furry raccoon nutsacks! fun movie with some nice messages behind it. had a similar meaning and ending to Mononoke which I liked but just doesn’t hit as hard

we’re all just transforming raccoons trying to coexist on this planet

big fan of the beginning especially the baseball scene and everything about her first crush. the middle dragged a bit and then the ending was great! the parents (especially the dad) were pricks. solid first time watch

beginning: wow this is super good so far and I’m super invested

middle: wtf

end: ?? why

if it wasn’t for literally the main plot this would of been an easy 4/5 or higher

found this one to be a little boring unfortunately, given its high average rating. I thought the animation would be similar to The Yamadas just from what I saw but it was much better. wasn’t a big fan of the ending
I mean its aight. not a bunch going on and relatively boring. arriety is cool but I find most of the other characters uninteresting. really the only parts that stand out to me are when they are doing small people stuff in human sized environments

a cute romance with not a whole lot going on. the ending really boosted my rating and left me feeling fairly satisfied. good first watch

a quirky little family drama/comedy. not a fan of this animation style, especially in comparison to the rest of the filmography. the musical piece at the end is a nice touch though
not a big cat guy nor have I fantasized about becoming one so this one wasn’t for me. the animation of the main character also just felt kind of lazy idk. just not the best ghibli whatsoever
