One of the most beautiful films I think I've ever seen. I was a little disappointed in myself that it's taken me this long to see this movie, but watching it any earlier would probably have destroyed me even more than it did watching it now. The emotions of love, grief, and guilt are so subtly performed. It felt very real.
I appreciate the director didn't insinuate too much of the dynamic between the two leads, because, at that age, there's so much unknown. You don't know how you feel and why you feel that way. I think this was a perfect way to tell a story like this of expectations of boys by their peers and the loss of your first "love" before reaching adolescence. It's like a love for and loss of a friend that isn't necessarily just platonic and not necessarily romantic either but rather something other that exists only at that age.
