Frankenstein
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is a profound retelling of a classic story. Oscar Issac as Frankenstein is genuinely phenomenal and delivers his best performance that I’ve ever seen. But Jacob Elordi as the creature steals the show. With his limited screen time compared to Issac, Elordi is able to convey such powerful emotions from his eyes alone. He’s really only verbal for 30 minutes of the film, which forced Elordi to put out this insane performance that requires so much talent. I loved how much backstory we got with Frankenstein, it really got you in his head and what he’s thinking. This is honestly my new favorite film of the year, what a masterpiece.
