Thunderbolts*
“Redemption isn’t about erasing the past. It’s about what you do now.”
Wow. That was.. beautiful. That was the best representation of mental health struggles in recent media. Everything with Bob was handled masterfully. Yelena and Bob stole the show in terms of performance. I love Steven Yeun, but him turning down the role of Sentry was a blessing in disguise because Lewis Pullman did outstandingly well in the role.
Oh and the comedy in this film was actually insane. Like it had no right being this funny in a mental health flick. John Walker and Red Guardian were hilarious consistently throughout the movie. It’s also impossible to pick a favorite member of the Thunderbolts or even be able to rank the members. They are all so great and I care for all of them. I mean, obviously Taskmaster is the worst but that’s a nonnegotiable.
This film also perfectly setups up the next Avengers films. It finally feels like there’s connectivity and cohesiveness in these films which is amazing to see. The post credits scene felt like the Thor: Ragnarok setup for Infinity War, straight hype. Also the lawsuit thing for the avengers title between Bucky and Sam is hilarious, I hope we get some banter between them in Doomsday.
