Stanley Kubrick Ranked This was very very close to being a perfect film. I think on the rewatch it will likely be. A very good film, and a shame that this was the last of Kubrick’s career. I wish we got much more from him.

“Sir Richard, this pistol must be faulty.” This was a lot to take in, with the large runtime, beautiful score played throughout, and breath taking visuals. Well before the intermission, I knew that if it continued good as it was so far, this would be a 5 star, and it only got better. The change of Barry from Part 1 to Part 2 is amazing to watch unfold. Movie as hilariously funny as is beautiful, so props to Kubrick for that. Definitely a perfect masterpiece that I will probably love for years to come.

Creating good expositions for sci-fi films like this have to be extremely hard. Something like Star Wars where you have to explain everything while not explaining everything to hopefully secure the audiences attention. You don’t want to spoon feed too much to the viewer, and just let them fill in the gaps for themselves and later test those self filled gaps as right or wrong. I do know that this is a “remake”, but I also heard that it’s not really a remake, and more of just the same universe and such. I don’t know much about the original, so I’m not going to say stuff that could be wrong. Aside from all that, this was great. Now on to Dune 2!
