will not spoil much but this was absolutely ruthless and bleak but it is an honest depiction of childhood trauma and mental illness and has other themes as well. I felt so uncomfortable and disgusted during certain scenes but it was handled with so much grace and sensitivity. the performances were wonderful, standouts were amy adams, patricia clarkson and also eliza scanlan! overall, a masterpiece of a show and will be picking up the novel soon! definitely do read the parents guides/TW before proceeding to watch the show though
