Update: got much better on rewatch
Zach Creeger proves once again that he is a great director. Is this movie perfect? No. But it does the job.
Highlights:
- Julia Garner is phenomenal as Justine
- Gladys is so unsettling, I love it
- Alex’s POV part of the movie is unmatched
- It wasn’t super gory, but man those few times it was.. chefs kiss for a horror movie
- Has some solid comedic moments
- I love all the ways we get to see grief being processed in this film
Lowlights:
- The ending felt a little rushed. I think they could’ve fleshed that out some more.
- The lighting was almost too dark. I felt like there were a decent amount of scenes where the lighting was not great at all
- Wish we would’ve gotten more of Josh Brolin (let Thanos cook)
Overall, great film. Would recommend
