Interstellar
First time logging it here, but still one of the greatest films of all time. I GET IT OK. It’s mainstream and semi-edgy (in an educative way iugm) but theres a reason to this. My predilection lies somewhere within my interests with astronomy and physics and its juxtapositions with themes of dread, hope, and pursuit of intellectualism. I know the petulance and the coerced intellectualism and scientific jargon can be overbearring and sometimes confusing. In a scientific pov, it might seem like confabulation of nothing burgers from preexisting theories and assumptions. To public view, it seems like self-absorbed erudition. But with the premise, I get it. I fucking get it. It was waaaaay warranted. idgaf.
Somehow themes like this make me wonder if there truly are equations beyond recognition (or theories that have been refuted or even fortified/proven) that future generations have already solved that may pose rifts into the time dimensions. The postulation in the film wherein singularity that situates inside the black hole with its infinite potential was harnessed to construct a multi-dimensional system that transcends time and gravity, could be such a breakthrough if it was in real life. Theres an eerie nature for the ambuigity of traversing galaxies and there is unwavering clamor for hope when humanity lies at the brink of it.
Other than the visuals and the technicalities inculcated (which obviously most sci-fi themes can blow it out of its proportions for plot reasons), the delayed parallelization and the belated rendezvous were both written succintly yet wrapped the film better imo. Though I didnt totally expect such plot armor after our current depiction of the black hole and what lies beyound the horizon. But i guess it being unknown housed endless interpretations which ig the writers utilized… hmm proper execution. #cried over the last part and #maladaptive dreaming about myself if i ever decided to go with my childhood dream of being an astronomer. Oh the possibilities are endless, like what the film suggests. Yeah no shit bro…. I am having an existential crisis thinking of this.
