Blade Runner 2049
Blade Runner 2049 feels like the culmination of 50 years of Sci-Fi. My favorite sub-genre of Sci-Fi is Sci-Fi that does not feel like a distant future, but rather something that would be possible for us to experience in a few years. This movie does this, but still manages to feel magical and foreign. I probably don't need to mention it, but the visuals in this movie is probably the best in any movie I've seen. So many shot that still linger in my mind hours after I finished watching.
The movie is well over 2.5 hours, but manages to feel shorter than the original somehow, which probably has something to do with how cinematic and grand this thing feels. And yes, I 100% believe this is far superior to not only Blade Runner, but most sci-fi movies I've watched up until this point in general. It's also easily Vileneuve's best film. I wish I caught this while it was still in theaters. I'll definitely go watch it if it's ever re-released.
