Nosferatu
What a beautiful way to bring Count Orlok back to the big screen. Robert Eggers nailed it—honestly, he’s the only one who could’ve delivered this gothic masterpiece the way it deserved to be told.
Every element of the film is a testament to Eggers’ craft. The cinematography is mesmerising, the camera work is brilliant, the costumes are lush, and the score is absolute perfection. It all comes together to create something so hauntingly gorgeous that it’s hard not to get completely lost in it.
Bill Skarsgård’s Count Orlok absolutely blew me away. You can tell Eggers put so much care into every detail of the character—it’s all so purposeful, and it pays off in spades. Orlok is eerie, unsettling, and impossible to look away from.
The cast is an absolute dream. Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, and Skarsgård are all incredible, delivering performances that are just dripping with gothic goodness. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, though… I’ve got mixed feelings about him. I’m not sure he fit the vibe quite as well as the others.
The ending is pure cinema. A perfect culmination of dread and beauty that left me spellbound.
The 1922 and 1979 versions are both films I adore, and this one has earned its place alongside them in my heart. Eggers’ Nosferatu is the kind of film that reminds you why you love cinema in the first place.
