Oldboy
Not to glaze or whatever but this COULD be one of the greatest of all time. One of the greatest villains, fight scenes, twists (all of them), endings, etc.
But the ending especially holy peak. I'll just say my theory here. They meantion that both him and his daughter were incredibly susceptible to hypnosis, which honestly make sense. They technically already loved each other anyway they just changed the type of love. I think there are some cases where estranged family members fall in love sexually anyway. You see him look in the mirror and the version of him that walks away is the monster that carries the traumatic memories. Similarly, people with multiple personality disorder form that illness because one personality holds the memories of a traumatic experience while the other has no memory of it. But when he wakes up you see that he is 70 steps away from the chair he was previously sitting at.
I think the beast was the one that remains, personally. I don't think you can completely get rid of that feelings that strong. When someone you deeply care about dies you still carry the grief for the rest of your life, for example. So I think when he hugs his daughter and she says she loves him, he instantly knows everything.
There's so much I love about this movie but like I don't feel like writing more.
