Fleishman Is in Trouble
watched it bc i watched the actors on actors with kieran culkin and claire danes. it was really good. i loved the rachel episodes and the perspectives and i liked the way libby emerges as the centre of gravity. i loved the toby stuff too and i was saying to myself how at the moment (like episode 2 and then 5/6) i have to be team toby and agree with all his bullshit bc i don’t have an alternative. then episode 7 fucked me all the way up. i absolutely understand all of that and it’s really hitting even now that i’ve finished it. i was a little less interested in libby’s life, just this kind of “i’m not happy with everything that i have, no one else feels like this” thing that just got a bit grating. i’d have just kept it as a toby/rachel story and definitely want to know more about what happens to rachel after libby leaves. the idea that she just comes back to toby is annoying and cliché because they can both exist outside of the paradigm of marriage and divorce. divorced couples don’t usually get back together and i was hoping for rachel to get better on her own. i really did love it though, and i cried and i wanted to rip my skin off (again episode 7, where are claire’s flowers?). also how the fuck did i get half way through and not know that j smith cameron had a cameo??? my jaw was on the fucking flaw, i love her so muchhh
**summary: toby- interesting
rachel- heartbreaking/mesmerizing
libby- irritating/but thought provoking **
