Resurrection

An incredibly underrated detective thriller that is easily dismissed as a blatant Se7en knock off, however Resurrection has its own great lore, religious ideas and delves more into the horror genre that its predecessor and I think it is actually a better film. The performances here are definitely questionable at times, with lead Christopher Lambert giving a hit and miss performance akin to Arnold Schwarznegger in End of Days, but similar to that film, Lambert's performance in Resurrection doesn't hinder the film a lot and he does have his moments. The directing here from Russell Mulcahy is definitely Fincher-esque, but doesn't give off straight rip off vibes, creating a unique and haunting atmosphere that many more well-known films fail to capture. Overall, Resurrection is a film that deserves a revisit and a closer look from those who initially dismissed it.
