The Prophecy II

"Phone's gonna ring... It's gonna be you-know-who. Everything's gonna be made right. Phone's gonna ring." Well I was not expecting brilliance again diving into these sequels. How some B-Movie director got one of Christopher Walken's best (and most underrated) performances of his career in a direct-to-video sequel baffles me. While this looks visually cheaper than The Prophecy for sure, it doesn't look direct-to-video at all. Some consider this better than the first but it is really really close between them. This sequel however has a faster, more action heavy pace typical to DTV films. The idea of Christopher Walken just going round saying witty one-liners and telling people to "Shh" before they collapse to the floor was one of the best ideas in the history of ideas and there is more of that here than the first film. Overall, The Prophecy II is a brilliant 90s action film with interesting religious themes that is a must watch for Walken fans and fans of the original film.
