Under Salt Marsh

Under Salt Marsh is a good little six episode anthology series that has a really good atmosphere and story. The remote Welsh setting works excellently and creates a dark and gritty vibe that some similar British detective shows fail to capture. The cast here is fine for the most part, with Rafe Spall as detective Eric Bull definitely stealing the show as his complicated character tries to solve the case while battling his personal dilemmas. Same with Kelly Reilly's character Jackie Ellis, struggling with the death of her niece and seemingly on a revenge arc. The duo bounce off each other and make for interesting leads. Episode 6 is definitely the best of the lot and elevates the show a lot for me, the previous two episodes had been a bit underwhelming and the show needed a big finale to salvage it. Overall, Under Salt Marsh is nice a little anthology series that fans of detective dramas should give a watch.
