The Pianist
The most thought-provoking and visually stunning film I’ve seen.
Rather than telling the story of everyone included in the Second World War, it focuses on the story of a family struggling with the brutality of war. The opening scene sets the tone for the rest of the film and the tied ending was nice as well. I didn’t really go in with too much information on the film; I only knew that it starred Adrien Brody and it was set in war times. Adrien Brody’s commitment to this role is clearly seen throughout the film. I believe that he lost lots of weight, and broke up with his girlfriend for this film, which later led onto him winning the Oscar for best actor. The narrative was well-done and it was fairly easy to follow. My first watching experience of this film was both incredible and shattering. I have no faults.
I also did a bit of research on Wilm Hosenfeld because I was questioning everything at that point in the film, and I found out that he helped in aiding Jews after having a change in heart (?).
Also, who was that woman’s husband and why did she keep asking about him? 😭
5/5 perfect (I do not support what the director did lol).
