Training Day

"To protect the sheep you gotta catch the wolf, and it takes a wolf to catch a wolf".  This is an absolute fucking masterpiece. A fun as fuck and rewatch-able crime drama, which begins aa an action buddy-cop comedy and slowly transcends into one of the most chilling crime thrillers I have ever seen in my life. It explores very real themes of power corruption, moral ambiguity and manipulation, all whilst simultaneously having an absolutely compelling plot, which kept me on the edge of my seat and glued to the screen throughout.  The acting performances are of course incredible. Of course, the oscar winning performance from Denzel Washington is often the one remembered, but his nominated co-star, Ethan Hawke is absolutely phenomenal as per usual for Ethan. But it doesn’t end there, the performances from the Latino gangsters by Cliff Curtis, Noel Gugliemi and Raymond Cruz are also really compelling and impressively good!!  Antoine Fuqua’s direction is phenomenal in this, and I will certainly be rewatching.
