Warfare
It is a good film. Sound design very much on point. I really appreciated the decision to no way glorify war. Performances were stellar. Noticed not a single person died to a bullet which I found interesting, estranging the notion of murder at the hands of no one. Already there is a separation with a bullet but with the pain coming in the form of ieds really felt a disconnect between hurt and ‘hurter’ left the theatre sombre so it achieved its purpose really feel best experienced in the movies not sure the impact would have come across similarly as on the silver screen in comparatively to a telly. The idea that they gained nothing really struck hard and the family emerging at the end painted the situation negatively for the US which I did not expect going into it.
I do feel however if it were not for the nuanced performances from Joseph Quinn who was incredible and will poulter the film might have gone against its aim. This did not happen though and felt was really a standout for Quinn and makes me excited to see how he does going forward. Kit Connor was someone I expected more given his career trajectory yet his character was sidelined to no fault of his own.
Overall a good watch, not the sort of film I will watch again yet the fact that it is still on my mind is a large positive.
