Dune
It was an impressive experience to see Dune Part 1 on a large cinema screen with incredibly immersive speakers. This is the sort of film that would blow the mind of someone thirty years ago. The CGI was credible and worked very well on the large screen.
Adapting Frank Herbert's frustratingly complicated novel would be a very challenging feat to say the least. I read the book before seeing this and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I just couldn't imagine how someone could successfully translate this twisted story on to the big screen, so I was impressed by how Denis Villeneuve pulled it off.
Personally this was an entertaining watch but I would have preferred if there was more emphasis on the Atreides family. Overall this was a great watch and I now look forward to part 2. I'm glad that this is the first time watching part 1 because I wouldn't have the patience to wait three years until the sequel comes out.
