Train Dreams
The story of a man's life is told in such an elegant and peaceful way that encourages you to take in every little detail of your life and cling onto it. The sad life he lead was one of sadness, yet one of tranquility. He learned to find peace in nature and within itself and I believe there is something big to take from this.
The setting and scenery is beautiful and the camera work is unique and immersive. The diverse range of angles and views added to the tranquility and emotion of the film. The usage of flashbacks was effective in telling the story of a loggerman.
Though it is not directly told, the themes of nature, family, and dreams we reimagine that can change our lives was hinted at through flashbacks and somewhat delusional moments.
Train Dreams taught me that we must find peace within ourselves. It's almost a shame that I watched such an emotionally deep film on Valentine's Day. We can try again next year.
