The Truman Show
I’ve wanted to watch this film for literal years!!
I pretty much knew the plot already (from the mind numbing clips side by side with soap cutting on TikTok) but I was pleasantly surprised by the whole thing
I still don’t like Jim Carey though. I don’t really know why, his facial expressions scare me (I had nightmares about the mask for ages as a kid). The best Jim Carey thing I have ever seen is being Gia Metrics snatch game character. His acting was great, and he’s objectively ‘hot’, I just don’t like him. Strangely though, I had a fat crush on him when I was like eight when I watched Mr Poppers penguins for the first (and definitely last) time
Lauren (or Sylvia) was just
Everytime she appeared on my screen I lost all my breath and went insane. Not exaggerating, she might be one of the hottest women I’ve ever seen- which is tough to say because I’ve been in love with the same girl since year 7
I can’t explain how much I gagged when I saw her. Especially when she was staring up at the tv- I had a heart murmur
Can I just say that everyone in this film was absolutely gorgeous. To quote a very specific Alaska Thunderfuck and Gia Gunn song: “Stun”
Since I vaguely knew the plot of this film before watching it, I didn’t expect much- obviously there’s so many people that say this film is ‘life changing’ so I expected my mind to be blown. And I will say, my mind was given a good shake
I didn’t expect the studio stuff and Truman figuring it out to happen until much later. I felt so weirdly intelligent pointing out the flaws in different places, and getting upset that he hadn’t noticed yet. There are so many that it’s comical, and Meryl delivering the product placement speeches with those wide eyes kind of creeped me out.
I was really surprised by this. I didn’t expect it to get that insane that quickly- and for Truman to literally be the centre of everyone’s universe. I can’t say I didn’t love this, but I can’t say I loved it either.
Seahaven reminded me of The good place (I’ve been really into the good place lately if you couldn’t tell), in that it’s very obviously a fluke made for blind happiness designed by an old man with a large chin who was banking on how long the human(s) inside would stay inside. And the colours of buildings and everything really gave Wisteria Lane to me, that plastic, sickening, pastel
