“Don’t leave me like this Neil.”
Holy fuck this was amazing. So intense, the bank robbery scenes, the hotel, the acting, the score just absolutely chefs kiss.
The only issue was how corny Al Pacino was for the first hour. His weird singing scene at the junk yard was so bizarre and he felt like he was over acting. He cleans it up more towards the end and his intensity feels more warranted.
For DeNiro this is maybe his best performance ever and Neil is by far his most interesting character. A man who is so out of touch with the people he’s surrounded by, he can’t connect with them on a personal level because it’s seen as weakness in his eyes. They see their wives and children who they love and all he sees is their limitations. He still has this sort of somber undertone where you can tell he may want that (kind of) but his nature won’t allow him. His ego and anti social tendencies get in his own way. Hence why he goes to the hotel, he just can’t let that fuck waingro think he won (I was happy to see him die though).
Justice for eady though damn that was so sad. My girl deserved to be happy and live normally.
Will Christian Bale be doing a Robert DeNiro impression in the second one?
