The Thing

The Thing is Alien and Among Us in the snow (nonderogatory). This movie was a wild ride, and I kept wanting to know what happened next. The practical effects in this movie are insane. Very few movies give me visceral disgust, and this movie is one of them, and that's due to how good the effects are in this movie. All those scenes where someone/something transforms into the Thing (the dog scene especially) were so intense and I was just in awe of how much was put into making the monster look and be so horrifying. You learn to become distrustful of the entire team immediately since you don't know who's been infected or not. Even at some point I was starting to feel distrustful of Kurt Russell's character even though I knew he was the main character. The scene where they test everyone's blood to see who's been infected had me in suspense the entire time. The entire time, who I though was infected, wasn't, and vice versa. Even by the end, I felt pretty distrustful of Childs, not knowing if he was infected by The Thing at that point. Overall, an amazing horror movie and definitely in my book as one of the best.
