I’m a big fan of Weird Al’s music but I’ve never seen this movie before. I’ve always heard mixed things about this movie because I know it didn’t do well at the box office but I know there’s a lot of people who appreciate this movie and it’s considered a cult classic, so I decided to check it out.
Now Weird Al is known for his parodies, but this doesn’t feel like a parody movie, it’s just more like a pretty straightforward movie with some parodies sprinkled here and there. I also liked Weird Al in the movie too, and I felt like this movie was a way to showcase his wackiness. I also liked Michael Richards as Stanley. It’s just funny to see him being a bumbling idiot who does really well at having a kid’s show. It’s also interesting to see him in a role that’s different from Kramer in Seinfeld. I would say his character is the complete opposite of Kramer, which just shows that he has range when it comes to comedy.
I loved the scene where he parodies Dire Straits’s “Money for Nothing” and turns it into a song about the Beverly Hillbillies. The fact that he parodies the shitty music video makes it even funnier. And that’s what I love about his parodies; it’s that he puts a lot of effort into his songs to make them funny. Another part I loved in the movie is the various weird tv shows they come up with and even the tv commercials making fun of other movies. The Spatula City commercial is one that I could think of where I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s hilarious to see them come up with so many crazy ideas to use as tv shows for a channel. They’re also very quotable and I constantly think of these commercials.
This movie is just full of nonsense and it’s just so wacky and zany. And that’s what makes it a fun movie from beginning to end. It’s just a good movie to laugh at, whether you’re a Weird Al fan or not.
