Elfen Lied
Made from pedophiles, for pedophiles.
I am at a loss for words and can’t wrap my head around how this horrendous atrocity ever received its status as an anime „classic“.
What’s even worse is that there were certainly elements that I liked, even adored. Great suspense, engaging story telling, interesting premise and emotional beats that were hit… It really could’ve been good, great even.
But it would be truly outrageous and disgusting, frankly, to ignore the blatant exposure and sexualization of literal children that is ever so present in Elfen Lied. The depiction of all underage characters is uncomfortable at best, and absolutely vile and predatory at worst. It added absolutely NOTHING to the story and ruined everything it had going for it.
Burn in hell, Elfenlied.
