I love love love a tim Burton movie. I just love the aesthetic of this movie so much. It's such a good easy going creepy Halloween movie to watch. And I'm just gonna say Ichabod is so dramatic I love him he's so relatable coming from another forensic student who's a drama queen

I watched this and started discussing it with other people. They brought up that it didn't need a sequel, it felt like it was dragging and not as good as the first one. But I couldn't help but disagree with them. Normally I hate sequels where there is no need for them. But weird enough I feel like black phone kinda of made sense for it to have one. It would've been fine without one but the first movie tapped into the paranormal and it's core role in the first movie. It's only obvious that the fans would be questioning what happend to the grabber once he joins the afterlife. We've already been shown the paranormal ghosts of the victims had abilities to help the movie and affect the characters so it only begs the question what would happen if a powerful vengeful spirit (aka the grabber) returns to the main characters. Another thing people said is that they didn't like how different it was from the first movie the first movie left it's paranormal aspects kinda low-key but this time they played a massive role. Switching this movie from a psychological horror with paranormal aspects to just a paranormal movie. And I understand why that can make some people switch up but for me I've always preferred paranormal horrors so of course I'm not going to feel overly affected by the change. I just think the storyline is so interesting how we get to basically see the story from Gwen's pov and deep dive into the origin and the complexites of her dreams. One super interesting thing I liked about this movie was the quality change when Gwen was dreaming and seeing the boys get murdered. It felt so unsettling and somehow realistic to see a movie from a low quality perspective as if it was actually happening and someone happend to film it on an camera. Also can we take a second to appreciate the location of the movie absolutely stunning I love when movies experiment with their surrounds and make the setting more interesting to the viewers.

Ok I watched this when I was like 13 so I'm basing my review on that experience. My first comment is that I think this movie is overrated. It's interesting but I've watched much more interesting horrors. Another note is how much people say it's scary/ the best horror of all time. I didn't find myself scared at any point if I'm being honest and I was young. I used to be terrified of horrors so it says a lot of this one didn't scare me. It's an iconic horror and I was very hyped to watch the movie everyone loves so much but it didn't really reach my expectations. It's an ok horror movie but it was built for a different generation with different expectations and less exposure to gore in horror. It's understandable that they found it more scary but I'm much more desensitised with all the modern horrors I watch.
