Dexter

An absolutely beautiful film and one of the only romance films I’ve actually liked.  A major problem I had even when watching the Disney version as a kid, is that the story always seemed dumb. She never had the human, visceral reaction of being with a Beast, but rather she only cared for him being rude.  This version does give her the real feelings and has to overcome them and realize she still does love him despite his monstrous appearance. The ending felt much more earned due to this.  I also loved the odd, fantastical/surrealist elements and how much it added.  The inner dialogue of the Beast was spectacular.  I watched it with my mom, who is not really a movie person but rather likes literature, and she also really liked it.
