I only kept thinking of three things: 1. james spader is so fucking hot 2. what’s the part time paralegal thinking about this BDSM situationship between her boss and the new secretary 3. if HR was there, this never would’ve happened 4. what the fuck is up with sexualising a mentally ill woman and centring male fantasies

I love seeing women succeed in male dominated fields. RIP Ann Lee, you would’ve loved EMDR trauma therapy. The electric guitar and lunar eclipse scene had my jaw dropped. Lewis and Amanda were beautiful and indeed blessed my eyes. A bit too much of a shallow look into religion and power structures, but still a beautifully made film.

*I am the Marcia fucking Brady of the Upper East Side, and sometimes I want to kill my self. *(iconic) I knew when not even ten minutes in and the cross necklace turned out to be a coke spoon and container that this would be batshit insane and I was right. As Ronald said, there truly is some fucked up shit in that house. Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve as the ending song is peak taste and my favorite part hands down.

I fucking hate the patriarchy and the torchbearers of it. The ending with the sun shining on Lale and Nur’s faces, and the one final shot of the three older sisters, especially Ece,,, tears in my eyes. That’s how young girls should be; free, hair blowing, sun shining, laughing and smiling. Irrespective of people thinking this is orientalist or not a full reflection of Turkish culture the reality is that for many girls in Central Asia and South Asia, this is a fact. It’s a tough pill to swallow, I know. I am not Turkish but Pakistani, but I do think it’s okay to know there are elements of our cultures and states that are positive and elements that are negative and that these two can coexist. May the fight and ultimate goal of justice and freedom for women and girls prevail.
