Sinners
"We need original movies not reboots/sequels" ok but you guys gotta see the originals that come out tho. Yesterday I drove my ass to the theater and watched this one. No regrets!
Sinners is a 1930's sharecropping-south era horror film. Two folks, richer from their previous travels, return to their segregated plantation hometown to get the ole band back together for one grand night.
This is a horror movie. There are monsters, but I won't spoil what kind. I know the trailer does but it's treated as a big reveal halfway through.
They are so fun to watch - good balance of spooky and funny, and are written well.
The MUSIC in this was so fucking awesome all the way through. There is ONE SCENE in particular that is a FANTASTIC celebration of black music history that might be an all-timer favorite. Holy shit.
Lots of good character moments, fun action sequences, and great imagery. I particularly liked the dynamic between the humans and the monsters, especially with its ending. It's a classic little film, please see this.Michael B.
Jordan killed it. 9.5/10
P.S. (what's up with the trend of movies cleverly using one actor for two main roles? ((Sonic 3,
Mickey 17, this)))
