After 4 months, I can confirm my top 4 is going to change.
“They’re not interested in me, just the idea of me.”
“I’m not writing about you, I wrote you.”
As a writer myself, I saw so much of me in Calvin’s character (I’m not a male manipulator dw guys. 🥰🫶) My novel has become my entire personality since I started writing it, so much that my entire personality has changed since I started my draft. I have read so many books written by other male authors where they literally create these female characters with literally no personality to just get killed off or used in the most useless way and a lot of fictional women in books get overly sexualised, I know they aren’t real, but it’s disgusting especially if a man is writing about a woman. One of my main protagonists in my book is a girl and not once in 60 chapters have I even thought about any of the stuff that goes through straight male authors heads. Stephen king is a good example like in his popular book, IT, the scene with Beverly is so messed up and I wonder how books like that even got accepted in the community when there are so many talented, unrecognised artists out there who never get seen :(
