love how gross and goopy this is… mr. raimi will always go to the places i need him to. in my eyes, linda did no wrong. you go girl!

A requiem for BRAT. Ironically, feels incredibly of "the moment": a satirical, hyper-contextual, and voyeuristic look into the commodification of art and celebrity image. The perfect companion piece to the modern age of pop culture - it's a knife when you're finally on top.

Using this to log S1. Happy Valentine’s day to me… #marriedtodalecooper.

Raw and unflinching in its portrayal of abuse and its effects, but finds room for life and beauty between. Araki's portrayal of the violence inflicted on these boys is unsensationalized, which I appreciate - he approaches the harsh subject with a perfect level of tact and sensitivity: showing enough that you the feel the emotional weight, but not so much that it feels unnecessarily brutal (I feel like it's a hard line to toe). A difficult watch, but very much rewarding in its own way. Joseph Gordon Levitt really is incredible in this film, never seen a performance like this from him. I think this is one of the last Gregg Araki movies I need to watch before I've seen all of his films, and I do think he is one of the most important filmmakers of the modern era. The ending will be on my mind for weeks... lots of emotions felt throughout but I got hit like a truck during the last 5 minutes.
