This is one of those sequels that actually stands on its own, fleshes out the first one and has only gotten better with time. It’s hard to find a sequel that does all 3 of those things. Whisky it doesn’t succeed the original Monsters Inc, Monsters University still does a great job at portraying these great characters in a different scenario earlier in their relationship and still managed to give us an interesting story within this world that already felt so lived in despite how absurd it may be.

A somewhat shallow film with just rather boring and undesirable characters. I have a feeling this was trying to be satirical and yet to me it just didn’t feel like it hit any of its marks. All the characters feelings and intentions just feel fake and everyone just feels cold and uncomfortable. This film had a lot of potential and it’s a shame that it didn’t live up to the expectations I’ve heard came with Past Lives which I haven’t seen yet but is supposedly brilliant.

I love the imaginations of filmmakers and artists sometimes. Can lead to some of the most bizarre but mesmerising stuff.
