This was pretty cool! Don’t know if I give a shit about the book in the slightest but you can also tell this needed another hour at least if it was gonna strive to do everything it wants. Some insanely good highs and some missteps but I had a good enough time and it was mostly a treat on the eyes when it’s trying.

Breaking my 3 week movie dry spell with this, and I really shouldn’t have. A misstep in every facet pretty much other than the loose underlying idea that AI is bad (which it often reappropriates as “misunderstood”) and that’s not nearly enough. Free Rebecca Ferguson. Jail Chris Pratt.

A miserable and evil movie at times but that sound design and Byrne performance really keep this one going strong enough to vastly outweigh the bumps and bruises. Kinda feels like a movie that, while being nearly 2 hours as is, would benefit from a little extra length to time out the beats and stress with more precision.

Fun to see Netflix sort of exist in the “mid-budget” action movie lane even knowing this cost wayyyy too much to qualify for that designation. Damon and Affleck are always a treat on the screen in tandem and they don’t let down here either. Biggest complaint is that both the narrative and visuals kind of get away from itself at times but as far as action movies go, this has heart that a lot of them are missing lately.
