Stalker
Stalker turns walking, waiting, and talking into something weirdly gripping. Tarkovsky makes silence feel heavy and space feel dangerous. Every long shot feels earned, like the movie is daring you to get impatient.
The cinematography is insane without trying to impress, the rust, water, fog, ruined buildings shots. The color shift alone tells you more than most sci-fi exposition ever could. The Zone feels alive, not in a monster way, but in a quiet unsettling one.
It’s slow, it’s demanding, and it doesn’t explain itself. But if you lock in, it gets under your skin and stays there.
