This shit rocks so much. Feels like the first truly modern monster movie, this is to post-911 USA what Godzilla was to post-war Japan. A mournful, nearly hopeless vision of a country’s trauma and a generation’s struggle to hold onto any sense of purpose in a world that increasingly seems to be crashing down on them. Matt Reeves is the fucking man!!
