Dune
‘Dreams make good stories, but everything important happens when we're awake’
Watching this back to back with ‘Dune Part Two’ made me appreciate how good this film is. They make each other better.
I remember thinking it’s a great film, but slow with kind of an underwhelming ending. And while I do still think the pacing is slow, I think it’s important from a world building perspective to understand the politics and the universe these movies are set in. Which is does brilliantly while also setting up ‘Part Two’ so well.
The story thats setup is so intriguing while also having these great and interesting characters with an incredible cast. And then when you add a great score, stunning visuals, unbelievable production and sound design to it as well as an unbelievable sequel, you then come around to the pacing on a rewatch.
Side note I never realised how similar the plot is to Avatar.
