The Fall

I really enjoyed this film because I feel like the part where they were in the place when Wallace died😢 with the stairs and blue buildings stood out to me because of knowing that these are real locations. This film kind of highlights parts of the world that aren't seen. The use of real locations make the film more meaningful especially knowing that the director spent all his money on creating something that incorporated different cultures and countries.  The editing in this film was very unique, I liked how during movement scenes the camera would slowly pan during a fast motion like when Roy tosses the curtain by his bed and it pans to the other side of the room.  The cuts and transitions in this film made it feel like Roy had control over the story because of how they had many L cuts where we would hear him speaking the story while the story is going. They matched an image to the horse splashing in the water to the droplets hitting glass, this transition gave metaphors to how the girl fell, the falling of the horse and the splash as it falls creates an unsettling feeling. I think the fact that the movie is set in a hospital shows how in a hospital there isn't much to do which makes Alexandria seek entertainment out of Roy through the story.  The Fall is overlooked because of how the director chose to spend his own time and money on creating a story that follows so many changes in environment and story-line. I also feel like the story would be seen as just a fantasy story like the princess bride, but there are moments that really show how Alexandria and Roy are both coping with their problems through this story especially when they both say its their story. Audiences often want a greater story than visuals but sometimes the visuals are what uplifts a story and I feel like that was done very well in this film.  The cinematography in this film incorporated really good lighting and placement during the moments in the story part of the film. The part where the bandit is starting to get sleepy and the camera pans upwards as the people dance with the dresses is a good example of how they coordinated each detail together.
