Before Midnight
"Someone had put together, "women explore for eternity in the vast garden of sacrifice." That line is so damn true, and it's been for 10,000 years, but that's enough. I don't wanna be one of these women. Like marriage is important to gays, or contraception to women rights. It's the same with giving up my hopes with the millions of women that had to give up their hopes. I'm not gonna do it. This is bigger than me. This means more than me."
"The world is fucked by unemotional rational men deciding shit. Politicians going to war for no reason, corporate heads deciding to wreck the environment."
Jesse is such and ass in this one (and equally the annoying guy that is still so romantic and hopey about life). I guess this goes on for everyone in life to just start getting angry and complain because why the hell not? The world is a mess and a single individual, no matter how passionate and intimate may be, does not have the world revolve around them so to not act on the impending sociopathic thoughts, we complain.
I love how realistic they've gone with this one, finally concluding and displaying the possibility of how every life will be. The other two, both equally beautiful and dreamy they may are too much of the youth that passes on quickly. Ephemeral. And I, I really appreciate the portrayal of the human mind after time.
P.S. I knew I always kinned Celine more anyway.
"I've always had this feeling no matter where I am in my life that it's either a memory or a dream."
"You know what my secret fear thing is? With ever man? Is that they all want to turn me into a submissive housewife."
