Interstellar
Yeah that’s a mind altering experience. Seeing this movie in IMAX was insane. The shots are so beautiful and sprawling, seeing the aspect ratio change throughout the movie while the sound literally shook my seat. Amazing. And such a moving movie too, it’s genuinely touching and sad. This really is what going to the movies is all about. It was packed, I mean nearly every seat filled in a giant IMAX theater, I loved seeing that. And everyone was locked in, even in those dead silent outer space scenes there was minimal noise to be heard. I mean I don’t think I love Interstellar quite as much as some other Nolan movies but seeing it like this has won me over. It really was sprawling and worth every second of the 45 minute drive. But more so focusing on the movie, it’s great. I mean it’s really, really great. Amazing acting, McConaughey acts his ass off. But really everyone does, even the kid actor for Murph does incredible. Every technical aspect is exactly as it should be. Idk there’s so much to say about this movie. Let me organize my thoughts a bit. Visually this movie is mind-melting. It is so good to look at, the space shots, the dust shots, the farm, the framing, the aspect-ratio. All of it is so beautiful, I love the shots of the ship floating past Saturn, like everyone else, and the shots of the black hole and in the tesseract. It’s eye candy. Incredible score, nothing else to say there. It’s a moving story that genuinely creates tears. The obviously amazing scene of cooper crying as he sees his kids grow up in mere seconds is devastating. Or when he is pounding on the bookshelves from the other side. It explores a lot of scary ideas and emotional ones too. The idea of isolation and loneliness, the idea of sacrificing oneself, losing yourself and your family to time. It’s scary, sad, etc. Also I would regret not mentioning Matt Damon, he comes out of nowhere and dominates for a bit. My brain is really truly rattled right now, I know this movie, I’ve seen it three times now in a relatively short frame, and all three times it got better than the last. Great twists and turns, endlessly rewatchable. Love it, love imax.

“Do not go gentle into that good night.”
“This thing needs to learn how to adapt, Murph. Like the rest of us.”
“You don’t think nature can be evil? No. Formidable, frightening, but no, not evil. Is a lion evil because it rips a gazelle to shreds?”
“Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends time and space.”
